Last year, if you asked me if I collected anything, I probably would've said no. After our recent move, when I was confronted with all of our possessions and the task of unpacking them it dawned on me that indeed I do have a collection and a fairly large one at that. Obviously, blue and white porcelain of all shapes and sizes is what I collect.

I even remember where and when I bought my first piece, years ago on our honeymoon in Hawaii. I wanted a little memento of our beautiful hotel room and picked up a very small round lidded box at the hotel's gift shop.  Shortly after, I remember acquiring a few more pieces for our first apartment in New York City at The Bombay Company Store.  I thought it made our place look quite sophisticated.  I still have these pieces today.

These days I find myself mostly searching Etsy for ginger and temple jars to add to my collection.  I pride myself on never paying a lot for these items. That's part of the appeal of these pieces; it's not always so easy to differentiate a bargain from a high-end antique. Other great sources of late have been One Kings Lane and William Sonoma Home, I've even gotten a few favorite finds from Amazon.

Going over the images that Nicole Cohen took of our home, I got a kick out of spotting all of the blue and white porcelain I've amassed through the years.
